“JOINT LAND USE STUDY (JLUS) PUBLIC MEETINGS SET FOR
OZARK, DALEVILLE, AND ENTERPRISE”
Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) public meetings have been scheduled as follows:
o This public meeting will focus on impacts adjacent to installations in western Barbour County and northern Dale County.
The focus of these public meetings will be to present an assessment of existing conditions, including operational impacts, growth trends, and land use incompatibilities in the areas listed above. This assessment includes written narrative and maps displaying the impacts associated in these areas. Regional stakeholders, including adjacent property owners and business interests, are strongly encouraged to attend and review the draft assessment of existing conditions.
The purpose of the JLUS is to address land use and communication issues in areas adjacent to Fort Rucker and the outlying airfields, heliports, and stagefields in Barbour, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, and Houston counties. The objectives are: (1) to encourage cooperative land use planning between military installations and the surrounding communities so that future community growth and development are compatible with the training and operational mission of the installation; and (2) to seek ways to reduce the operational impacts on adjacent land. The JLUS program encourages communities and military installations to study the issues in an open forum, taking into consideration both community and military viewpoints.
